OKX Scores an Important Sponsorship Deal with the EPL Champion

Crypto and sports industries are drawing closer with every passing month, despite the developing crisis both in the global economy and the cryptocurrency market. 1xBit analyzes the latest one between OKX and Manchester City as well as the developments around Everton and Paris Saint-Germain.

OKX gets to sponsor a football champion

At the moment, the English Premier League is one of the most pro-crypto sports organizations in the world. All of its top, and most mid-tier, teams have got involved with blockchain firms and cryptocurrencies in one way or another, be that Arsenal’s ambitious projects with Socios or Chelsea’s multi-million deal with WhaleFin. This connection keeps getting stronger despite the market decline and the crash of Terra that had hampered a bit the reputation of cryptocurrencies as a (relatively) reliable asset. And there’s no greater proof of that than the recent sponsorship deal between OKX, the firm that runs an eponymous crypto exchange, and the newly crowned league champion, Manchester City.

Given how high the price tag must be for a brand's logo placement on Citizens’ main game kit, it’s understandable why OKX got ‘only’ a one-year training kit deal, which must have also cost a hefty sum. But even that will grant the crypto exchange significant exposure to the ever-growing global fan base and potential business partners. Rest assured that the popularity of Manchester City will grow exponentially with the arrival of young Norwegian prodigy Erling Haaland, who scored 59 goals in 65 games for Borussia Dortmund over the past two seasons.

To celebrate this deal, OKX launched a marketing campaign that offers a chance to win season tickets to an exclusive OKX Hospitality Box for those who scan a QR code embedded in the street art dedicated to club star players. The streets of the blue part of Manchester will be painted by the artist that goes by the nickname Akse P19 in collaboration with the Global Street Art Agency.

Everton and PSG also seek to improve their crypto game

Everton FC didn’t have a spectacular season - the club finished only a step above the relegation zone - so the situation is forcing the organization to look for additional funds to strengthen the roster before the next run. The funds, and plenty of them, arrived from the blockchain gambling company Stake which agreed to pay $12 million per year over the next several years for the logo placement on the main kit. The deal is believed to be the biggest in the history of The Toffees.

The victor of French Ligue 1, Paris Saint-Germain, has also got the crypto marketing campaign going. Les Parisiens carried out the sale of NFTs dedicated to the 2022 Japan Tour, the first one since 1995. The selection that included the Match Digest Movie NFTs and the Commemorative NFTs, as well as VIP tickets, went for sale starting from 0.12 ETH.
