What is Fantastec?
Fantastec, which is also known as Fantastec Sports Technology, was founded in Guildford, Surrey in 2017 by Steve Madincea, a businessman who is widely known in the world of sport and brokers sponsorship deals between sports teams and world-famous brands such as Red Bull, Shell, Coca-Cola, Aston Martin, Subway, Samsung etc... He is also the founder of PRISM & Sports Marketing Global Leader, one of Great Britain’s biggest marketing companies. Fantastec’s primary goal is to get fans more involved in what’s happening at their favourite sports teams. With the help of innovative products such as OTT VOD, VR and AR, wearable gadgets, artificial intelligence and blockchain, Fantastec’s programmers, analysts, designers, researchers and sports marketing specialists work to help fans from all corners of the globe further immerse themselves in the world of professional sport, to find out as much as possible about current events and the history of their club, as well as to make a real connection with popular athletes.
How does the Fantastec SWAP app work?
Fantastec’s main product is its SWAP app, which allows its users to discover and trade digital collectibles with one other. Such collectibles include high-quality photos of players, sports cards, digital autographs, short video clips and other exclusive content. The authenticity of each item available on Fantastec SWAP is verified by the club and a record proving that a product is genuine is stored on blockchain. The way the app works is quite straightforward:
-
After going to a special menu, users find an item which is available to swap (a ‘spare’). -
Then they contact the owner of the item they would like to acquire in the app and offer them something from their own collection in return. -
Users may be awarded additional bonuses after successfully completing a swap or for receiving certain combinations of items. Such bonuses may include discounts in club shops and admission to special collectibles trading tournaments.
Arsenal have signed up and other clubs are next in line
Simon Woolward, a Fantastec company representative, believes that his company’s products have the potential to not only revolutionise how collectibles are traded, but also how football fans interact with their favourite clubs in general. Given that the majority of those who follow “the beautiful game” use their mobile phones to keep up-to-date with football news and discuss off-field drama, Fantastec is bound to be the link which brings sports organizations and fans from all over the world together. Arsenal’s commercial director Peter Silverstone likened Fantastec SWAP to the time-old tradition of trading player cards (with players’ faces and statistics), which has always been very popular among football fans worldwide. The only difference is that now such an exchange will be fairer, as the authenticity of collectibles available on this platform is verified, thanks to its use of blockchain technology. “The Gunners” have become the first club to team up with Fantastec, but the developers state that some big-name clubs from La Liga and the Bundesliga have already expressed an interest in becoming a part of their blockchain community.
