Gala Games brings GRIT to mainstream gaming
If you have been longing for an online multiplayer game that not only has all the features of PUBG or Fortniteб but is also deeply rooted in blockchain and Web3, then it’s time to rejoice because the first such game has been listed in the Epic Games Store. The game is called GRIT and represents a huge breakthrough in the industry that so far has been quite reluctant to adopt these innovative solutions despite their growing popularity. While Activision Blizzard’s president Mike Ybarra stubbornly insists that “nobody is doing NFTs,” Epic Games bring Web3 and traditional gaming the closest these two worlds have ever been before.
In GRIT, you get to play a fearless gunslinger who roams the Wild West, looking for good targets for many bullets packed in his or her unfailing weapons. The comparison with PUBG and Fortnite hints that it’s a game of the battle royale genre that is very much enjoyed by millions of gamers across the world. The developers call it the “ride-or-die” game where stylish and deadly shooters get to test their skills in solo, duo, and squad matches. But the main peculiarity of GRIT is that each gunslinger is a non-fungible token of the ERC-721 standard, which means ownership rights, unique traits, and, of course, tradeability. Also, the creation of Gala Games falls into the “play-to-earn” category of games that gained enormous traction over the past couple of years.
The four-stage NFT sale to solidify the player base
Even though GRIT is a free-to-play game, it does require an initial investment in order to experience it to the fullest extent. As they say, you need to spend money to make money. In other words, a player has to buy an NFT that represents the generative gunslinger which also provides access to different loadouts designed to help fine-tune the character’s appearance, fighting style, and other vital traits.
At the beginning of June, Gala Games conducted a four-day sale of its NFTs in order to get the game into full swing. The event took place between June 6 - June 9, with the first three days being a closed sale for whitelisted members. On the first day, the price for Galaverse Attendees stood at $600 and rose to $1500 over consecutive days. All in all, the release of GRIT and its listing on the distribution platform with over 200 million users could be the pivotal point in the history of blockchain gaming.
