The virtual track where two kings meet

Horse racing is often called the sport of kings because, throughout history, it was enjoyed mostly by the aristocracy, whereas beer has always been the beverage of the lower classes. But times have changed, and now, there’s an inseparable bond between beer and sports, even the sport of the royalty. And when it comes to the cold golden-colored drink, this realm also has its king who goes by the name Budweiser - hardly any sports broadcast, especially in the United States, goes without the trademark “Bud” commercial. These kings have chosen a very interesting meeting place, the increasingly popular blockchain game Zed Run which has already been featured a couple of times in our blog posts.

The joint initiative, which was announced just a few days ago, will see Budweiser and Zed Run launching the Bud-inspired virtual racing track along with a number of other products for the betterment of fan engagement, such as the branded NFT passes to the arena, significant prize pools of $45,000 and higher for all races sponsored by the beer maker, and an exclusive collection of Clydesdale NFT skins that is going to be airdropped in three stages. The skins will be applicable within the game itself. FYI, Clydesdales is a famous selection of horses that often feature in Budweiser’s global promos and commercials whenever this brand sponsors a racing event.

As for the NFTs, the corresponding announcement specifies that there will be 2,500 NFTs passes on the 24-hour fire sale, priced at $225, excluding the gas fees. The holders of these tokens will be admitted to the two Budweiser Racing Challenges with the mentioned $45K prize pool that will take place in July and August. The beer producer and Zed Run will also organize a major end-of-the-year challenge in December with a huge price pool of $95K and a year’s supply of the foamy beverage.

The owners of NFT passes will also receive the Clydesdale NFTs through the airdrops scheduled for July, along with merchandise, the virtual copies of which could be worn in the Decentraland metaverse that accommodates Zed Run. The Clydesdale collection consists of 1,600 classic tokens, 800 Bud Bottle ones, and 100 gold NFTs. Holders who choose to burn the NFT passes by the end of the season will be awarded extra prizes.
