It’s gonna be a slobberknocker!

Will all you wrestling fans out there give us a “Hell Yeah”? (Cue Bryan Saxton style huge “Hell Yeah”).

Buckle up for a rollercoaster ride this weekend as professional wrestling’s main event, WrestleMania, makes its way to the ring for what promises to be yet another thrilling instalment of blockbuster action.

This event has thrown up some stone cold stunners of match-ups down the years, such as Shawn Michaels vs The Undertaker at XXV, The Rock vs Steve Austin at XV or Bret Hart vs Steve Austin at XIII, and with two days of bouts pencilled in for this weekend, WrestleMania XXXIX will no doubt have fans across the globe glued to their TV screens once again this weekend.

So, without further ado, let’s dive into this year’s talking points faster than you can say “1….2…3!”

Seth “Freakin” Rollins vs Logan Paul

Ding, ding, ding! We kick off this week’s review by taking a look at a crunch bout which sees YouTuber turned professional wrestler Logan Paul lock horns with Seth Rollins.

Incidentally, Paul made his WWE debut at this very event last year when he teamed up with The Miz to defeat The Mysterios in a tag-team match, before being attacked by his tag-team partner, and he’ll be keen to sample the sweet taste of victory yet again here.

That being said, his opponent will be out for revenge here after Paul not only eliminated him from this year’s Royal Rumble, but also interfered in Rollins’ showdown with Austin Theory at Elimination Chamber, costing him the United States Championship.

Will Rollins get his own back or will his rival thwart him yet again?

John Cena vs Austin Theory

WWE fans the world over will have plenty of reasons to rejoice at the fact that they can see bonafide wrestling legend, John Cena, at this year’s WrestleMania, where he’ll square off against Austin Theory.

Mr Money in the Bank wasted no time at all in laying the gauntlet down to his opponent as he challenged Cena to this match on the night of the latter’s return to Raw. Whilst Cena initially responded to such talk by stating his opponent was up to the challenge of taking him on, he eventually reluctantly agreed to the match to please the fans.

That being said, Cena’s trash talk will have fallen of deaf ears with his outspoken opponent. Theory is now a two-time United States Champion and proved his mettle yet again at Elimination Chamber last month where he saw off no fewer than 4 challengers to strengthen his grip on the red, white and blue belt.

However, it remains to be seen whether he’s got what it takes to beat the GOAT on this occasion. Whatever happens, this promises to be a thrilling bout!

The Usos vs Sami Zayn & Kevin Owens

The Undisputed WWE Tag-Team Championship will be on the line as Sami Zayn & Kevin Owens go toe-to-toe with Sami Zayn & Kevin Owens.

Ironically, it was The Usos who reunited their opponents as a tag-team partnership after Owens intervened to save Zayn after he received a beat down from The Usos on March 17’s episode of Smackdown, which prompted them to challenge The Usos to a showdown at WrestleMania.

It goes without saying that Zayn & Owens have both had their fair share of bad blood (no pun intended) with The Bloodline over the last few years and they’ll be champing at the bit to best their rivals here.

However, it remains to be seen if they can free the Undisputed Tag-Team Championship from their foes’ iron grip on this occasion.

Roman Reigns vs Cody Rhodes

Last but not least, we round off this week’s preview of the action with none other than the main event, which will see WWE Universal Champion Roman Reigns defend his title against Cody Rhodes.

Reigns has sat atop the WWE mountain since being crowned Universal Champion at Payback back in August 2020 and has been utterly ruthless in his record-breaking defence of his title. The Tribal Chief has beaten off seemingly any challenge that has come his way with his most recent title defences against Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn at the Royal Rumble and Elimination Chamber respectively and will no doubt fancy his chances of further extending his run as champion.

Cody Rhodes, however, will be hoping to go where no wrestler has gone since August 2020 and finally end The Tribal Chief’s reign (pun not intended) as champion. Rhodes set up a date with destiny by triumphing in the Royal Rumble back in January and also heads into this bout in his spirits after ending Solo Sikoa’s undefeated streak on Raw, just 6 days before he squares off against Reigns.

What's more, upon arriving in WWE a year ago, The American Nightmare also declared that his story ends with him picking up the title which eluded his father, the legendary “The American Dream” Dusty Rhodes and he will no doubt be hoping there’s a fairytale ending here against one of the WWE’s most consummate arch-villains of all time.

Whatever happens, this is one match that’s bound to have us all glued to our screens!
