During gameplay, the players rotate in the court, exchanging positions in a clockwise manner after they score a point, so that it gives the six players (with the exception of the Libero unless in special circumstances) the opportunity to serve the ball. This is done back and forth until a score is made and points assigned to one of the two teams.

• Failing to serve the ball over the net 
• When the opposing team isn’t able to hit a ball back over the net
• If a player mishandles the ball through actions such as hitting it twice, lifting, throwing, carrying, etc.

A volleyball match is comprised of 5 ‘sets’, with a set representing 25 points. So when a team plays, their goal is to get to 25 points before their opponent, with at least a 2-point difference. When the first team gets to 25 points, it wins and then the two teams switch sides on the court. The first team to win 3 out of 5 sets is declared the match-winner.
