NFTs coming to Instagram? Meta is testing the special option

Despite being forced to abandon its aspirations for its own cryptocurrency, Meta displays every intention to keep implementing NFTs, the blockchain product of particular interest for globally renowned brands. The integration of Libra (or Facebook Coin) to WhatsApp wasn’t meant to be, so Meta switched its efforts to another of its platforms, the ever-popular Instagram.

Back in May, the corporation reportedly began testing a unique option that allows using digital collectibles on the social media outlet. Whereas a few days ago, Mark Zuckerberg announced the expansion of tests to provide users with means to showcase their non-fungible tokens via stories to their Instagram followers. The CEO specified that NFTs will be made compatible with the developing SparkAR software for augmented reality.

CZ chants, “Ole, ole” after signing Cristiano Ronaldo

Cristiano Ronaldo has finally shown some love to blockchain! He should have done that long ago because his archrival Leo Messi is already knee-deep in crypto. And what a score is that for Binance that envies the marketing successes of FTX and Crypto.com. The Manchester United striker inked a multi-year partnership deal with the largest centralized cryptocurrency exchange, according to which he’ll acquaint many millions of his fans with Web3 via non-fungible tokens.

The Binance NFT marketplace has been up and running for quite some time, but the Ronaldo deal will surely provide a substantial popularity boost - the guy has 465 million followers on Instagram alone. Footballer’s announcement of the deal on that social media platform already has 13.8 billion views, so one can only imagine the sales once Ronaldo’s NFTs hit the market.

Snoop Dogg and Eminem turn into bored apes

Snoop Dogg isn’t the man who misses out on good hype and there is no bigger source of hype in the NFT industry right now than Bored Ape Yacht Club (BAYC). The original Dogg Father appeared in the latest music video with his rapping buddy Eminem in the form of animated “bored & weed-smoking” apes. The video is called “From the D 2 the LBC” - it’s quite creative and the tune itself is catchy, go check it out.

BAYC refutes accusations regarding alt-right content

There has been quite a bit of controversy in the NFT space after Yuga Labs, the developer of the BAYC collection, was accused of covertly embedding alt-right and Nazi symbols into its latest artwork, particularly the one from under the digital pen of Ryder Ripps. Gordon Goner, the studio’s co-founder, called these accusations “insanely far-fetched” and said that the firm had filed the lawsuit to stop the slander and infringement.
