Drake Made a Huge Bet in Bitcoin on the Outcome of Super Bowl LVI

It’s no secret that crypto betting is a booming business that is developing very well on its own accord, though it could always use an endorsement from big-time celebrities like Drake who gambled with a huge amount of money in BTC.

Fans of gridiron football are still in awe of an amazing sporting event that was Super Bowl LVI that took place on February 14 at the beautiful SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, California. The ecstatic crowd of over 70,000 people witnessed a thrilling clash between Los Angeles Rams and Cincinnati Bengals where the former prevailed with a 3-point difference (23-20), and Cooper Kupp, the wide receiver for the Rams, became the most valuable player.

But there was one thing that grabbed the attention of crypto nerds apart from the captivating game itself. There is probably no need to introduce Drake, the Canadian music phenomenon who boasts four Grammy and six American Music Awards. The news popped up that he had betted as much as $1.26 million in Bitcoin on the outcome of this football game and the performance of his buddy Odell Beckham Jr. who plays wide receiver for the team from Los Angeles. As the line in Drake’s hit song “Survival” goes, “N***as gamblin’ with their life for some content.” Well, no one was gambling with his life, of course, but we are grateful for Drake’s gambling habits that gave us an opportunity to create some content for you.

To be more precise, Drake betted $471,000 in Bitcoin on the Rams to win the game even in the overtime, the bet which he apparently won. On top of that, the rapper placed a $392,000 bet on Beckham Jr. to get more than 6.25 receiving yards and the same amount on him getting over 0.5 touchdowns by game’s end. This bet also turned out to be the money-maker since Odell scored the first touchdown of the game after catching the 17-yard strike from Matthew Stafford that laid the groundwork for the Rams’ triumph. Before the bet was made, Drake tweeted, “All bets are in on the family.” to which Odell replied, “It’s time,” which turned out to be the time for mind-blowing sports action.

Odell Beckham Jr. has already featured in our blog when he has landed a partnership deal with Cash App, according to which the athlete pledged to convert his entire NFL salary to the first cryptocurrency. When announcing the deal via social media, Odell had also initiated a $1 million giveaway in BTC to be distributed among his followers. Apart from that, the NFL created an exclusive commemorative NFT collection, with each attendee of the Super Bowl LVI being eligible for a unique token.
