U.S. Olympian Johnny Quinn Provides Bitcoin 101 to His Twitter Followers

You know that we love when professional athletes publicly share their fascination with Bitcoin or other cryptocurrencies, and we gladly publish their opinions. But what’s even better is when a well-known sportsman takes up the task of educating his fans and followers about the intricacies of the money of the future, as Johnny Quinn did on Twitter.

Table of contents:

  1. From football player to bobsledder to Bitcoin educator.
  2. A comprehensive reading list and tons of other useful information.

From football player to bobsledder to Bitcoin educator

Out of all top athletes that were baptized into the Crypto Church, perhaps only Russell Okung, a former offensive tackle for Carolina Panthers who’s now a free agent trying to find a new team, tried to educate his fans about the actual benefits of Bitcoin to the best of his knowledge. Most other sports stars limit their enlightening message to something like, “Bitcoin is the future” and then go on to promote their partnership deals with this or that crypto firm.

There’s nothing wrong with this approach since any celebrity endorsement of BTC is good for its image, but we would still prefer if more of them followed the suit of Johnny Quinn, the former football player for Buffalo Bills, Green Bay Packers, and Saskatchewan Roughriders, who then became the member of the U.S. Olympic bobsled team and competed in the 2014 Winter Olympics. Upon retiring from active competitions, Johnny became an author, a keynote speaker, and a blogger with 20K followers on Twitter. Lately, he has also taken up the role of crypto educator after publishing an extensive post on the said microblog, where he tried to help the readers develop a “proper framework regarding BTC.”

A comprehensive reading list and tons of other useful information

Quinn’s post turned out to be quite an extensive one, with up to a dozen thread continuations. The newly emerged Bitcoin proponent started off the narrative with a rather extensive reading list that includes some really powerful books like “Bitcoin Standard” by Saifedean Ammous and “Blocksize Wars” by Jonathan Bier, urging the followers to “get it done, no excuses.”

He then went on to post a series of snapshots of crypto-related news headlines from a few years ago and today, which revealed the hypocritical position of big financial players like the CEO of JPMorgan Jamie Dimon on Bitcoin. This comes to show, as Quinn also suggests, that one should be wary of advice coming from these people, and often try to do the opposite because they most certainly don’t hold your interest at heart. Lastly, the athlete shared his investment strategy that is commonly known as dollar-cost averaging. It implies buying a certain amount of BTC with certain time intervals, for instance, investing $100 every two weeks, regardless of the price action and market conditions. It is indeed one of the most popular and provenly efficient strategies for those who don't want to learn the intricacies of day trading.
