How to Convert mBTC or µBTC to BTC?

Let’s start off with the fact that both mBTC and µBTC represent small units of that same cryptocurrency, Bitcoin (BTC). It’s quite simple - such abbreviations are used to shorten the number of zeros before a comma in decimals so it’s easier to understand how much small amounts of BTC are worth. For example:

0.01 mBTC = 0.00001 mBTC;

0.1 mBTC = 0.0001 mBTC;

1 mBTC - 0.001 BTC;

10 mBTC = 0.01 BTC.

You might also come across the abbreviation µBTC (Bits) which refers to an even smaller amount of Bitcoin, i.e:

100 µBTC = 0.1 mBTC = 0.0001 BTC;

1000 µBTC = 1 mBTC = 0.001 BTC.

Here at 1xBit, you can also encounter another abbreviation - mBT, which is basically another name for mBTC.

Please note! Don’t confuse mBTC or µBTC with numerous tokenized (or wrapped) Bitcoin, for instance, WBTC, vBTC, renBTC, MBTC, xBTC, BTCST, etc. The first two refer to the original Bitcoin, while others have been issued on other blockchain networks and their price is usually pegged to that of Bitcoin. You shouldn’t send BTC to an address designated for tokenized Bitcoin or vice versa because it will result in a permanent loss of funds. However, you can freely make deposits in mBTC or µBTC as it is a standard transaction on the Bitcoin blockchain.

The same principle applies to other cryptocurrencies, such as mETH, mXMR, mLTC, mDASH, mZEC, mBCH, mETC, mBTG, µWBTC on Ethereum, µWBTC on Tron, etc.
