Tezos and BabyDoge Conclude Partnership Deals with Major Football Clubs

Over the past year or so, a large cohort of prominent sports teams got involved in the blockchain space in one way or another, mostly through partnership deals and the release of fan tokens. This trend has been dominated by the likes of Socios.com, FTX, and Crypto.com, but we are now seeing the arrival of new actors in the face of Tezos and memcoins.

Tezos lands a sponsorship deal with Manchester United

Amusingly enough, the global sports industry has become the biggest contributor to the adoption of cryptocurrencies and blockchain solutions, at least in the past couple of years. We have witnessed how Socios.com has risen from an aspiring blockchain startup to an undisputed leader in the production of fan tokens, or how FTX has been conquering the highest levels of American sports. Now, the time has come for crypto projects like Tezos to step into this area in pursuit of brand recognition.

Before now, football (soccer) clubs have been entering the crypto community through the gateway created by Socios.com. Teams like Manchester City, Barcelona, and Paris Saint-Germain have all issued their fan tokens, but one of the heavyweights, the legendary Manchester United, seems to have been reluctant to join the blockchain movement, despite having a huge global fan base. However, this abstinence has been broken after Red Devils shook hands with people from Tezos on a long-term sponsorship deal worth $27 million per year. The deal sees the Tezos logo being placed on the team’s training kit, along with the launch of some unspecified initiatives related to the development of Web3.

Prior to that, Tezos had first become an official blockchain partner of McLaren Racing to help it build the NFT experience platform, and then inked a deal with Red Bull Racing Honda that made it the team’s official blockchain partner.

BabyDoge says, “Wuff”

Thanks to the emergence of the Dogecoin (DOGE) saga, meme coins became the real thing in the crypto community. DOGE’s parabolic market rally gave way to a number of similarly themed meme coins, one of which, Baby Doge Coin (BabyDoge) established a foothold in German Bundesliga after partnering with TSG 1899 Hoffenheim, the professional club from the village of the same name, which is currently sitting near the top of the table.

According to the recently published announcement, BabyDoge bought itself the right to be called the official partner of the 122-year old club and the developer of the club's own non-fungible tokens (NFTs). Also, the coin will be actively promoted across the team’s home stadium, PreZero Arena, and appear in its key marketing material that will help raise awareness about crypto and BabyDoge among fans.
