MetaBrewSociety: a Beer-Loving Metaverse Community Where NFTs Grant Voting Rights

The German Web3/blockchain project MetaBrewSoceity (MBS) prepares to launch an interesting project where holders of beer NFTs not only get to be literally bathed in brewsky but will also be given voting rights within a DAO.

As it turns out, virtual beer is not a joke

Coffee was the first beverage to be associated with cryptocurrencies, but many would argue that it’s the beer that must become the drink of the metaverse - the future of blockchain. And if you are on the foamy side, then pay attention to the German project called MetaBrewSociety because it’s about to make a big “hop” into Web3. MBS is a young organization, founded a little over three months ago, by a gang of beerologists from the country that is famous for its quality brews.

One might wonder, “How on earth could one combine beer and crypto? These guys seem to know the answer - a physical brewery gets its representation in the metaverse where MBS’s proprietary NFTs grant each holder the right to claim 100 free cans of beer every year from that brewery - that and the voting rights in a beer-centered DAO. Frankly, it reminded me of the scene from the recent movie “Dog” where a guy at the bar explains to the confused Briggs, played by Channing Tatum, the advantages of virtual beer. It was meant as a joke, but turns out, it’s a viable idea that could make an impact in the emerging metaverse.

Holger Mannweiler (even his name sounds like a brand of lager), the founder of MBS, explains that the incorporation of NFTs will help create a “permanent target group” in both physical and virtual worlds, something that many conservative brands would like to utilize when transitioning to the virtual market. As for the virtual brewery, it’s believed that it will be located on a plot of (virtual) land on The Sandbox platform, which is considered a go-to place for talented Web3 developers.

But back to free beer, the center topic of this story, the unclaimed NFTs/beer cans could be rolled over to the next year or even sold to the thirstiest members of this community. MBS intends to do a two-stage airdrop of 6,000 tokens, mostly to whitelisted members, which suppose to give them the voting rights in the decentralized autonomous organization (DAO) that will have been established once the physical location is purchased, which will occur when 75% of NFTs is being minted. The most active members of DAO will be appointed as brand ambassadors and get tons of other perks. Sounds like an idea that's worth a toast.
