Houston Rockets GM pins faith on Bitcoin
It seems that the American sports industry has assumed the task of adopting cryptocurrency and propagating its use to the masses. Whilst politicians are preoccupied with a low-intensity conflict with Facebook and its Libra initiative, professional US athletes and executives seem to be growing more eager to display their crypto enthusiasm.

Morey hails Bitcoin
Daryl Morey, the founder of the MIT Sloan Sports Analytics Conference, who has been a general manager of Houston Rockets since 2007, revealed on Twitter that he has been on a Bitcoin buying streak recently.
He displayed his stance on Bitcoin by replying, “I just bought more” to a Tweet from Anthony Pompliano, a famous fintech personality and a founder of a crypto asset management fund Morgan Creek Digital, posted on August 23, in which Pompliano stated that Bitcoin had become a safe haven for investors in the situation of the impending geopolitical and financial disaster.
There are many financial experts who openly support the notion that Bitcoin is gradually becoming an important indicator of global economic and political vagaries as well as an uncompromisable storage of digital assets. Pompliano reacted to Morey’s reply by welcoming him to the club of pro athletes, entertainers, and other celebrities who openly support Bitcoin.
Sports personalities becoming Bitcoin believers
Russel Okung, a professional NFL footballer who plays offensive tackle for Los Angeles Chargers, is one of the most prominent Bitcoin preachers among athletes. Recently, Okung has been engaged in active promotion of educational events organized to help the attendees raise their awareness about Digital Gold. In one of his tweets from last week, the footballer promised free tickets to Chargers home games to selected visitors to the upcoming conference titled “Bitcoin is” that will take place in Los Angeles.
While Houston Rocket became involved in the crypto sphere only indirectly, Dallas Mavericks, another NBA team from Texas, has made Bitcoin one of the official payment methods, thanks in no small way to the efforts by Mark Cuban, the team owner who shares Morey’s and Okung’s enthusiasm about cryptocurrencies.
