2022 Saudi Arabia Grand Prix

If you’re an F1 fan, you won’t want to miss the action of the 2022 Saudi Arabia Grand Prix on Sunday.

The race will be held at Jeddah Corniche Circuit, which was designed by Carsten Tilke, son of the famous circuit designer Hermann Tilke. The track itself has some impressive stats as drivers can reach speeds of up to 250 km/h making it a faster track than tracks such as Silverstone. In fact, it is the fastest street circuit in F1 and has the most corners, a total of 27.

For the 2022 Grand Prix, it has been given a lick of paint, adorned with the brightly coloured designs of Saudi Arabia’s answer to Banksy– Rex Chouk.

This isn’t the only adjustment that has been made to the track since its inaugural race in 2021 – the barrier at Turn 27 has been moved back to widen the track, and at Turns 4, 16 and 22 a steel plate has been installed, similar to the track in Monaco, so that drivers can brush against the side to hit their record-breaking speeds. They have also made efforts to improve the driver’s sightlines from the cockpit in an effort to increase safety around the blind bends.

The season kicked off in style last Sunday with a thrilling win for Charles Leclerc and Ferrari in Bahrain, a win which saw Lewis Hamilton snatch a podium after both of Red Bull’s drivers were forced to retire due to technical problems. Incidentally, Hamilton has already set the record of 1:30.734 last year around Jeddah and he’ll want to do it again.

That being said, both The Prancing Horse and The Silver Arrows could have their work cut out for them on this occasion as Red Bull seek to put the pain of their doubly disappointing start to the season behind them. As they say, hell hath no fury like a wounded animal, and reigning drivers’ champion Max Verstappen will be itching to get some points on the board, as well as crossing his fingers his car proves to be more reliable this time around.

2022 Cazoo Tour Championship

The 2022 Tour Championship will be taking place from 28 March to 3 April in Llandudno, Wales. The Championship comprises the top eight players based on the single year ranking list, up to and including the 2022 Gibraltar Open.

The Tour was first staged in 2019 and won by Ronnie “Rocket” O’Sullivan who hopes to reclaim his title, after losing to Neil Robertson last year. It is the penultimate competition before the World Championship at the Crucible, which is certainly reflected in the quality of the competitors.

Talking of O’Sullivan, he is set to lock cues with his old rival Mark Williams, who have been facing each other in competitions for the last 30 years. They have a jaw dropping 62 trophies between them! We are likely to find the defending champion Neil Robertson facing Mark Allen, and as it stands, top seed Zhao Xintong will meet John Higgings on opening day, all battling it out to win the top prize of £150,000.

Whoever plays who, we know the competition is set to be a thrilling spectacle that you won’t be able to take your eyes off!

Call of Duty League 2022 - Major 2

Calling all esports fans! Press “S” to strap yourselves in for a world of excitement over the next few days as qualifying for this year’s second Call of Duty League major draws to a close with the third and final round of weekly qualifiers for this truly epic event.

Whilst we’re spoilt for choice when it comes to thrills this weekend, the pick of the forthcoming crunch clashes has to be the grudge match between OpTic Texas and Atlanta FaZe, which, incidentally, is a repeat of the final of this year’s first major. It was the Texans who came out on top in the last meeting between these two teams as they cruised to a 5-2 victory over their opponents to take home the bacon. What’s more, they also emerged victorious when the two sides met earlier in the tournament and will no doubt fancy their chances of making it 3 wins out of 3 against their rivals on this occasion.

That being said, things won’t be plain sailing for them against their opponents who’ll be chomping at the bit to get revenge. Atalanta FaZe are no strangers to winning themselves after dominating last year’s Call of Duty League and they’ll be eager to lay down a marker by showing OpTic who’s boss here ahead of Major 2.

What’s more, FaZe are still in pretty formidable form, having lost just 3 matches in 2022 so far. That being said, two of those defeats came against, you’ve guessed it, OpTic Texas.

No matter who comes out on top here, one thing’s for sure, fireworks are bound to fly on this occasion.
